World champions twice: Flamengo U-20 lifted the Intercontinental Cup with XBRI on the chest
Few shirts can say they featured in two world finals in a row. XBRI's is one of them. As master sponsor of Flamengo U-20, our brand was with the Garotos do Ninho for both of their U-20 Intercontinental Cup titles, each won at the legendary Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
What is the U-20 Intercontinental Cup?
It is the match between the CONMEBOL Libertadores U-20 champion and the UEFA Youth League champion, Europe's top youth club competition. In other words, it is the final that decides the best youth club team in the world.
2024: Flamengo 2-1 Olympiacos
On August 24, 2024, Flamengo, the Libertadores U-20 champion, hosted Greece's Olympiacos, winner of the UEFA Youth League, at the Maracanã. With a 2-1 win, the red-and-black side lifted its first U-20 Intercontinental Cup, with XBRI as master sponsor on the shirt.
2025: Flamengo 2 (6) - 2 (5) Barcelona
A year later, on August 23, 2025, the opponent was none other than Barcelona. Lorran opened the scoring in the first half, the Catalan side turned the game around after the break and Iago equalised late on to take it to penalties. That is where goalkeeper Léo Nannetti stepped up with two decisive saves, and Flamengo won 6-5.
With that title, Flamengo became the most successful club in the history of the competition.
